Vinicius Junior is set to hold his long-awaited contract showdown meeting with Real Madrid in the next 48 hours, and the club aren’t expected to up their offer.

Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon reports that Vinicius Junior’s next round of contract talks with Real Madrid will take place in the next 48 hours, but Real are expected to maintain the same offer they already made to the player in recent months.

Gustavo Hofman writes for ESPN in Brazil that Real submitted their most recent offer to Vinicius shortly after the World Cup, offering him around €22m annually, a slight increase on their previous offer to him.

But that amount is still far from what Vinicius is asking for, which is approximately €30m. As a result, Real are considering selling if the upcoming contract negotiations fail to make any progress.

Mario Cortegana confirms for The Athletic that a meeting between Real Madrid and Vinicius’ agents to discuss a contract renewal has been scheduled for this week.

Vinicius is open to lowering his demands, but the main point of contention is a proposed renewal bonus, which Real have shown no willingness to pay.

Key figures in Madrid are in favour of a sale this month if no agreement is reached, and though new head coach Jose Mourinho is a fan of Vinicius, club president Florentino Perez will have the final say on a potential transfer.

To add to the gossip around Vinicius’ future, the president of the player’s agency Roc Nation shared an image on his Instagram story on Monday saying “London, here I come. Let’s go!”

But the agency president later clarified he was simply attending Roc Nation Sports International’s headquarters in London, with no suggestion he was making a trip to the Emirates Stadium or London Colney.

Arsenal are sure to make their move if the player gives them the chance, but that’s going to depend on the outcome of this week’s meeting.
