Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has shared insights into what the future might hold for his career.
Van Dijk’s immediate focus remains on Liverpool, with his current contract keeping him at Anfield until 2025. However, the Dutchman has revealed in recent weeks that talks are underway to possibly extend his stay on Merseyside.
The 33-year-old defender, has been a prominent figure Liverpool’s backline since his arrival from Southampton in 2018 and has shown no signs of slowing down, aiming to continue playing at the top level for several more seasons.
Van Dijk's situation is well-known – Liverpool could lose their captain at the end of this season, with clubs able to approach him from January 1st.
Arne Slot and Sporting Director Richard Hughes will be hoping to convince him to renew his contract, but fans are fearful that he could be making a big move away from the club, especially considering both Slot and Van Dijk have been coy as to how negotiations are going.
However, Van Dijk has made clear there is one thing he won't be doing after playing for the Reds.
