Vitor Reis, former Palmeiras player, ranks third for U20 minutes in La Liga

Brazilian defender Vitor Reis, 19, on loan from Manchester City to Girona since August and former player of Palmeiras, has already accumulated 528 minutes on the field in La Liga, after eight rounds. This statistic places him as the third most used U-20 player in the Spanish Championship, only behind Dean Huijsen (571 minutes) and Arda Güler (565 minutes), both from Real Madrid.

Sold at the beginning of the year for a fixed 37 million euros (about R$ 232 million at the time), Vitor became the highest sale in history for a Brazilian defender. This season, the player accepted the challenge of defending Girona and seeks more playing time.

So far, he has played in seven of the eight matches, starting in six of them, as well as coming on once in the second half. His best performance came in the last round, in the 2-1 victory over Valencia.

On that occasion, Vitor was one of the highlights of the match: he registered two blocks on shots, won four individual duels, with 86% accuracy in passes and received the fourth-best rating of the match, according to the Flashscore portal.

"Vitor is an athlete with a rare mindset. He has always been very focused, competitive and open to learning. The fact that he is already standing out in La Liga shows how much Brazilian football continues to reveal talents ready to compete at a high level," says Cláudio Fiorito, CEO of P&P Sport Management Brasil, the company responsible for managing the defender's career and that of another 150 athletes in the world's main leagues.

The defender observes close examples to inspire him. Brazilians Savinho and Yan Couto followed the same path, gained space and visibility in Girona, until they earned call-ups to wear the Seleção shirt. Less than a year to the World Cup, the young defender also dreams of entering the radar of the Brazilian National Team coach, Carlo Ancelotti.

"It is a privilege to be able to take care of the image of such a dedicated player and closely follow this journey. He has been reaping the fruits of a job that is just beginning," says Fábio Wolff, managing partner of Wolff Sports, which works with the defender's image.

With the break for the FIFA date, Girona will return to the field only on 18/10, at 11:15 (Brasília time), against Barcelona, away from home.
