Eliminated from the Campeonato Paulista, Santos have a rare free week to train before visiting Mirassol on 10 March. Coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda aims to use the lull to sharpen performances and explore tactical variations.

According to Globo.com, kick-off is 21:30 Brasília time at the Maião, in the São Paulo interior, in the fifth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. It is only the second extended training spell the squad have had since January.

Santos last played on Thursday, against Vasco, in round four. The squad reported back on Friday, then were given three days off. Training resumes on Tuesday.

Vojvoda argues the gap allows higher-quality work. He says some players need time not just to recover between matches but to build strength, spend time in the gym and undertake longer sessions.

The staff also view the free week as a chance to rehearse different systems. With a congested calendar, sessions often revolve around the next opponent only, so the coach wants to test alternative shapes now.

The period should also aid chemistry for recent arrivals. Midfielder Christian Oliva was announced as a new signing on Saturday, while forward Moisés joined almost three weeks ago and has four outings already, with one goal and one assist.
