A Chelsea player has given away that he is starting their game against Bayern Munich in the Champions League tonight.
Chelsea are currently in Germany getting ready to face European giants Bayern Munich in their first game back in the Champions League for far too long.
It is going to be a hugely tough task for Chelsea, but they have been praised on the whole by Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany, who believes that they have a good transfer strategy.
Kompany was also asked what he thinks about the job Enzo Maresca has done so far as Chelsea manager, and he was also full of praise there as well.
It’s going to be a huge game and will have a lot of eyes on it tonight. Chelsea should fancy themselves to get something out of it, but Bayern will also be confident for the win.
Reece James speaks to the media.
Chelsea captain Reece James has confirmed that he will be leading the team out tonight as he faced questions as the player to join Maresca in the press conference last night.
As cited on X, James confirmed he is starting tonight:
“To captain the team and walk out at such a historic stadium tomorrow is such an amazing feeling.”
As also cited on X, James said:
“I played against these [Bayern] in 2019 I think or 2020, and they destroyed us, in other words. Days like that we learn a lot. Nights like that will help me go into tomorrow’s game.”
I unfortunately remember that game too well. But I also remember 2012 VERY well! We need to channel that spirit tonight!
