Real Madrid had been heading for defeat at Son Moix, and they still are. They had equalised against Mallorca, but the hosts are back ahead with only minutes to go.
Alvaro Arbeloa chose to make several changes to his side for the trip to Palma, with Vinicius Junior one of the players left on the bench. Nevertheless, Real Madrid should have scored twice in the first half, but Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman expertly denied the returning Kylian Mbappe on both occasions.
Real Madrid were made to pay for those misses when Manu Morlanes finished coolly to open the scoring later in the first half, and their lead lasted 50 minutes. It was wiped out by Eder Militao, who headed home brilliantly on his first appearance in five months.
Real Madrid were in the ascendency after that, but immediately after, they relinquished their point as Mallorca retook the lead in stoppage time. Vedat Muriqi was slipped through, and he slammed home from inside the penalty area to make it 2-1.
This could be a huge moment in the La Liga title race. A win for Barcelona at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano would give Real Madrid a seven-point buffer to make up, which could be unassailable at this stage of the season.
