In the buildup to Sunday’s Club World Cup final, all the talk was about how good PSG were, and how much trouble Chelsea might be in, coming from the easy side of the draw, having not really been tested by a top European team.
That included us – all we had seen from PSG in the last few months was amazing play, and for all that Chelsea’s form had improved in the last few months, taking on the top teams remained a problem. But in the end the game couldn’t have gone any more differently to how people expected.
The Blues came out of the blocks fast and blew the French side away. It wasn’t just a win, it was a really dominant performance.

A defiant Levi Colwill spoke to the media after the game and explained that the negative predictions had spurred him and his teammates on:
“Of course they’re an amazing team with amazing players, but we know how good we are and we came into the game confident,” Colwill said to the club’s official website.
“There were a lot of people doubting us out there and it just helped us, gave us that fire, and when we were out there we gave it everything. We’re over the moon to not only win but to get a clean sheet and to be the champions of the world.
“The media helped us a bit. Everyone was doubting us, asking how are we going to keep their players quiet, how are we going to not lose against PSG? It was a bit like: ‘Wait a minute, no one respects us’. We used it against them, it definitely helped us.”
