West Brom are closing in on their latest summer signing
West Brom could be set for a busy summer ahead following their near-miss with relegation this season.
The Baggies finished in 21st, just four points and one place clear of the bottom three, so James Morrison will be keen to bolster his first team squad.
The 40-year-old took charge of the team in February on an initial interim basis, but he earned the head coach role permanently after the club survived the drop.
The former WBA midfielder oversaw the final 12 games of the season, with the team winning four, drawing six and losing just two.
The Midlands outfit will be keen to ensure they climb the Championship table over the next 12 months, with their sights set on getting back into the mix for promotion.
So, there could be a lot of transfer activity at The Hawthorns in the coming months, with the market set to officially open on Monday.

As per a report by journalist Pete O’Rourke, West Brom are set to win the race to sign Liverpool youngster Carter Pinnington.
It has been claimed that a number of clubs were seeking his signature, including teams in the Premier League as well as the Championship.
However, it’s understood that Albion have reached an agreement with the Reds for a permanent deal for the defender, and with new technical director Dominic Price a former Liverpool youth coach as recently as 2020, he may have used his Anfield connections to strike this particular deal.
Pinnington has come through the ranks of the Premier League side’s academy system, but has yet to make his breakthrough into senior football.
He was a part of the first-team squad this past season at times under Arne Slot, but did not make an appearance.
West Brom squad under Morrison.
The Baggies could be set for a major shake-up at the back, as they already have options such as Chris Mepham, Nat Phillips, Krystian Bielik and George Campbell.
The arrival of Pinnington will provide extra cover and competition for minutes, which could open the door for departures.
It remains to be seen what kind of fee will be paid to seal the deal for the 19-year-old.
West Brom will be hoping that the defender can contribute to the first team squad straight away, with Morrison looking to strengthen after their 21st place finish in the Championship this season.

West Brom have signed a lot of younger players in the last couple of years, and the start to their summer business indicates this strategy will continue.
Pinnington is only 19, and it’s also been reported that West Brom are the front-runners to sign 20-year-old Jimmy-Jay Morgan.
It’s no surprise that West Brom are making moves early in the window after their disappointing campaign, and the arrival of the Liverpool youngster has potential to be a smart addition.
If he is ready to contribute next season, then he will add some more youth to their backline options, and if he can hit the ground running then he could become a very valuable asset to the club.
