West Bromwich Albion are on the hunt for a new manager once again, following the dismissal of former head coach Eric Ramsay.

Albion's 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic on Tuesday proved to be the last straw for Ramsay, who failed to win in nine attempts across all competitions.

Ramsay left the Baggies just one point above the Championship relegation zone, while Leicester City's six-point deduction put the Foxes below the Hawthorns club.

West Brom have already changed permanent boss this season, as Ryan Mason was sacked in January, following a dismal run of 10 consecutive away defeats in the second tier.

West Brom told to attempt 'unlikely' Carlos Corberan swoop

The Baggies have lacked managerial stability since their former boss, Carlos Corberan, left the Championship club to join Spanish top-tier outfit Valencia in December 2024.

Before Mason and Ramsay's dismissals this term, Tony Mowbray was sacked last season, having failed to establish the sort of play-off credentials West Brom wanted.

Meanwhile, Football League World asked our Baggies fan pundit, Callum Burgess, if Albion should consider re-hiring the Spaniard if he leaves Valencia either now or at the end of the season.

"The answer's obvious, you'd definitely be contacting him straight away, to see if there's any way possible to bring Corberan back to the football club. Quite frankly, you're not going to get a better manager than him, who's going to be available, whether it's until the end of the season or beyond that. "I'd really doubt that he'd want to return to The Hawthorns, so it's probably very, very, very unlikely to happen, but, obviously, you'd be contacting them straight away, and it's a very obvious answer to that question."

West Brom would be in dreamland if Carlos Corberan returns

West Brom have currently fallen into difficult times, and are in danger of being relegated to League One just two seasons on from landing a Championship play-off spot.

Corberan is the man who guided the Baggies to a fifth-place finish following a largely successful 2023/24 campaign, while his previous exploits in the Black Country prove that he is more than capable of steering Albion away from relegation trouble if he returns to his former club.

Meanwhile, his current side, Valencia, are in a relegation battle of their own in La Liga, but the 42-year-old steered them to a highly respectable 12th-place finish just last term.

The Baggies should not be worried by how Corberan is currently performing in Spain, as he knows the Championship inside out and has previously got the best out of several players who are still at West Brom.

However, as alluded to by Burgess, the Spaniard may be unlikely to swap a job with a top-flight side in his homeland for a relegation scrap in the second tier of English football.

If Corberan does return to The Hawthorns, though, they appear more than capable of securing their Championship status and building a successful future.
