In front of a crowd of around 50,000 spectators, Lille's Pierre-Mauroy stadium hosted an intense friendly last night, Tuesday, between Tunisia and Brazil. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, delivering a contest packed with suspense and intensity.
The game kicked off at a high tempo, with both teams launching wave after wave of attacks. The "Carthage Eagles" broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute thanks to Hazem Mastouri, the striker currently playing for Dynamo Makhachkala.
In the closing moments of the first half, at the 44th minute, Chelsea's young winger Estevao Willian (18 years old) equalized for Brazil from the penalty spot, bringing relief to the Seleção supporters.
During his press conference, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti (66) commented: "It was a much tougher match than against Senegal. Tunisia defended with a very low block, which didn't suit the strengths of our forwards. The second half was better, we did what was needed, but it wasn't enough."
He added: "It's always trickier to prepare for the second match, because it's the week when players return to their clubs, and to be honest it's hard to get the same intensity from them."
And he concluded: "The schedule is very demanding with a high risk of injury... I have great confidence, because I want us to reach our peak for the World Cup. So there's still some work to do over the next six months."
