It’s been noted that Chelsea’s newly arrived Brazilian trio of Joao Pedro, Andrey Santos and Estevao Willian are becoming inseparable around Cobham – and it seems that extends to international duty too.

Estevao has just done a really in depth interview in his home country where he discusses it:

“The relationship here [on Brazil duty] with everyone is really good. Of course, I’m closer to João Pedro and Andrey Santos, because we’re together every day at Chelsea.

“[Brazil manager Carlo] Ancelotti has given me all the freedom in the world to play football, to be myself.

“He’s given me the freedom to play, right? So, feeling this affection, feeling everything he represents, having opportunities with him… It’s been incredible.”

Having friends from his home country will help him adapt, but he needs to adjust to the local habits and customs too. It seems like he’s making progress in those categories as well:

“I’ve seen a lot of improvement [in speaking English]. Because it’s easier to learn there. You’re speaking English every day, interacting with people every day,” the teenager explained.

“Of course, there are two Brazilians at the club, so I end up spending more time with them. But they also force me to speak English. It’s been incredible. I’m loving Chelsea, I’m loving London. I don’t think it could be better.

“We’re always apprehensive, right? Moving to another country, being further away from my family, who were back in Brazil. But it’s been incredible, God is blessing me. Wow, I think it’s the happiest moment of my life.

The one thing Estevao Willian misses

There was rather amusing thing the wonderkid confessed to missing in Brazil:

“I’ve tried everything. English breakfast, dinner, lunch. But what I miss most there is the beans. There are no beans there. The beans they eat in the morning are different. Of course, it will be easier now that I have a house, but before I was at the hotel. But I’m making the most of it here, I’m eating a lot.”
