Ben Davies became only the fourth player to reach 100 caps for Wales as he led his country out against Belgium on Monday evening.
Signed from Swansea, Ben had 10 caps to his name when he joined us in the summer of 2014. Over 11 years later, he's now only the third player to earn 90 caps for his country during his time at Spurs.
Indeed, 12 players have 50-plus caps during their time here...
Our first World Cup winner, Hugo led France to football's highest honour in 2018, beating Croatia 4-2 in the final in Moscow. Sitting eighth in our all-time appearance list on 447, most Premier League appearances as a Spur (361), the goalkeeper joined us from Lyon in 2012 and spent over 11 years in N17 - the majority as captain - until departing for LAFC in January, 2024.
Now South Korea's most capped player on a staggering 138, Sonny earned 91 caps as a Spur. Adored in his home country, Sonny won the Asian Games (2018) and played in two World Cups (2018, 2022) during his 10 years here. Signed from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Sonny is seventh in our all-time appearances on 454 and led the team to UEFA Europa League glory in his last season. He's now tearing up the MLS with Hugo at LAFC.
Our longest serving player in the current squad and just the third to reach 90 caps for his country as a Spur, Ben made his full international debut in 2012 and had 10 to his name when he joined us in 2014. He's in the top 30 of our all-time appearances on 358 and second all-time in Europe, just three short of Harry Kane's 76.
Our record all-time goalscorer with 280 goals in 435 appearances also became England's record marksman during his time at Spurs with a penalty against Italy taking him beyond Wayne Rooney's 53 onto 54 in March, 2023. Harry's debut gave an indication of what was to follow when he scored 73 seconds after entering the action off the bench against Lithuania in March, 2015. He's now racked up 109 caps and stretched his record goalscoring mark to 74.
The cultured defender earned 80 of his record 157 Belgium caps during his time at Spurs - 2012-2020 - forming a brilliant partnership for club and country with Toby Alderweireld. Signed from Ajax, Jan racked up 315 appearances for us and started the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final. First capped aged 20 in 2007, Jan played until the end of the 2024 UEFA European Championships. He helped Belgium win bronze at the 2018 World Cup.
The best goalkeeper in the world in his pomp, Pat earned 119 caps for Northern Ireland and played a huge role in his country qualifying for the World Cup Finals of 1982 - where they famously beat hosts Spain - and 1986, where Pat earned his last cap against Brazil. Signed in 1964, Pat is third in our all-time appearances on 590, topped only by Gary Mabbutt and Steve Perryman. FWA Footballer of the Year in 1973, PFA Players' Player in 1976, nominated three times for the Ballon d'Or, Pat won the FA Cup, two League Cups and the UEFA Cup during his time at Spurs.
A Spurs and Republic of Ireland legend, Robbie remains his country's record goalscorer and appearance maker with 68 goals in 146 caps earned from 1998-2016. He joined us just after his heroics at the 2002 World Cup, where he scored three goals, including 90th-minute equalisers against Germany and Spain. Keano is one of only 18 players to score 100-plus goals for us with 122 in 306 appearances, 2002-2011. One of the all-time greats of the MLS after winning a hat-trick of titles with LA Galaxy, Robbie is now manager of Ferencvaros in Hungary.
A defensive legend for club and country alongside Jan Vertonghen, Toby joined us from Atletico Madrid in 2015 and went on to make 236 appearances and, like Jan, started the 2019 Champions League Final and won bronze at the 2018 World Cup. Toby departed for Al-Duhail in Qatar in 2021 before going home to Royal Antwerp in 2022 and won the Belgian Pro League in 2023 before retiring at the end of last season.
Denmark's record cap and still going strong with appearances off the bench this month, Christian earned 58 of his 146 caps during seven years at Spurs. Signed from Ajax in 2013, Christian was the playmaker that kept our midfield ticking over under Mauricio Pochettino, making 305 appearances before moving to Inter in 2020. He recovered from a cardiac arrest at UEFA EURO 2020 to play for Brentford, United and now VfL Wolfsburg.
Here's a stat - Gio made more appearances for Mexico (54) than he did for us (33) during his four years here! Signed from Barcelona in 2008, he ended up on loan at Ipswich, Galatasaray and Racing Santander before joining Mallorca in 2012. Gio went on to earn 106 caps for Mexico, played at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 World Cups and won three CONCACAF Gold Cups.
Spurs through and through, Chris spent 25 years here initially as a player, then coach and assistant manager. Twice an FA Cup winner, UEFA Cup winner in 1984, Chris earned all but two of his 53 caps for Republic of Ireland as a Spur. What times he had as well - under Jack Charlton, the Republic qualified for Euro 88 and reached the quarter-finals of the 1990 World Cup. Chris has had spells as manager at Newcastle, Norwich, Brighton and Forest and, most recently, took Ghana to the 2023 AFCON tournament.
A consistent performer at Spurs for six years, 2017-2023, Davison has been a defensive rock for Colombia for almost 10 years, earning 50 of his 73 caps during his time here. Many will remember Davinson as part of the Colombia defence up against team-mates Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Dele, Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose in the Round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup - England won on penalties. Switching to Galatasaray in 2023, he's won back-to-back titles in Turkey.
