The brass at La Liga champions Barcelona, as things stand, do not intend to dip into the market for a replacement for the aging Robert Lewandowski.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have this weekend provided an insight into the situation.
Frontman Lewandowski is for his part widely expected to bring a close to the Barcelona chapter of his career in the summer of 2026.
This comes with the Pole, who recently turned 37, set to see his contract terms come to an end.
Speculation, in turn, has long been rampant regarding just who could be brought in to replace a player who just last season found the net 42 times.
If the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, though, then an in-house solution instead appears to be on the cards…
As per a report from Sport, amid the ongoing financial troubles at the Camp Nou:
‘The plan is to optimize as much as possible the resources that Flick’s squad already has. And this means giving stripes to the figure of Ferran Torres. The player from Foios is for Deco the first on the list of Lewandowski’s replacements.’
