Bristol City have got off to a promising start this season and currently occupy the final play-off spot having earned themselves eight points after four games.

With a couple of outstanding results, including a 1-4 away win on the opening day versus Sheffield United, as well as a 4-1 battering of Hull City at Ashton Gate, the Robins look to be heavy promotion candidates under the guidance of Gerhard Struber.

Bristol City have been knocking on the play-off door over the past couple of seasons, with an impressive sixth place finish last time out, only to be beaten 6-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals by the Blades.

The Robins won on just four occasions on the road last term, with their record at Ashton Gate proving the driving force behind the club's shock run to the play-offs, and the fans will be hoping to go a couple of steps further this season despite not having a huge amount of movement in this summer's transfer window.

The high morale that Struber has fostered within his tight-knit group is a factor that can propel the Robins up the table, and is certainly translating into positive results at this moment in time.

Bristol City have been on an amazing run of form that kicked off in February. After their high-scoring victory over Hull City, the three points marked the Robins' tenth game unbeaten in a row at Ashton Gate, which is proving to be a fortress.

They have carried their momentum from the back end of last season into the 2025/26 campaign, having recorded seven wins and three draws in their last 10 at Ashton Gate, making it a very tricky place for Championship sides to go.

With no Championship side recording more wins than the Robins since the first of their run in February, they will be keen to continue this run as their next home fixture comes against current league strugglers Oxford United in just over two weeks time.

Bristol City's forward line to thank for impressive home form

As well as being solid defensively, Bristol City's attack is the area that has stolen the limelight so far this season, with the trio of Scott Twine, Anis Mehmeti, and Emil Riis all being on top form in the early stages.

Especially Twine, who has been the standout performer of the three as he has found the net three times and provided one assist, including a special free kick against Sheffield United. Mehmeti and Riis also have two goals and one assist each, making the link-up play between the trio a danger to opposition defences.

This has led to Bristol City being the second top goalscorers in the league so far with nine goals, behind Coventry City with a staggering 14.

If the Robins continue to keep firing in forward areas and maintain their steely nature in defence over the course of a full season, then the combination of the two will for sure make Bristol City an outsider shout for promotion to the top-flight.

Struber's side are next in action away to strugglers Sheffield Wednesday on September 13 after the conclusion of the current international break, but will return to home soil for a clash against Oxford United the following weekend before hosting Ipswich Town at the end of the month, where they will hold no intentions of surrendering their imperious record at Ashton Gate.
