One football pundit believes that a 31-year-old goalkeeper should join Chelsea if they come calling for the stopper.
Chelsea have been linked with new goalkeepers many times in the last year or so but they decided to stick with what they’ve got going into this season in the end.
There was a summer saga involving Mike Maignan of AC Milan and at one point, it looked like Chelsea were about to sign him. But for whatever reason that deal broke down and Chelsea decided not to pay the asking price that that Italian side were holding out for.
That came after current number one Robert Sanchez continued to get criticism thrown at him after stats showed up his clear liabilities. Many Blues fans just do not trust Sanchez as their number one and would still like to see him replaced.
So, will Chelsea still look to sign a new goalkeeper in one of the next two transfer windows? Well, there might be a chance to land an experience international goalkeeper should they want to.
Everton and England stopper Jordan Pickford might be available for buy with a contract running out in 2027. It looks like he could soon sign a new deal with Everton though, although anything could happen there and Chelsea might fancy a move to sign him either way.
There are no strong links with Pickford and Chelsea right now, but former player turned pundit, Darren Bent, believes Pickford should go to Chelsea.
Bent said this week on Jordan Pickford’s contract situation:
“He’s settled there [at Everton]. If Chelsea come calling, why not? But they might not. That’s the problem.”
Yeah, I don’t think Chelsea will come calling either to be honest. Pickford would certainly divide fan opinion I am sure of that.
