La Liga giants Real Madrid have turned down the chance to train at Anfield, ahead of their upcoming Champions League showdown with Premier League champions Liverpool.

As much has been confirmed by manager Xabi Alonso.

It is customary for the away teams in high-profile European fixtures to make use of the facilities of their hosts to train in the days leading up to the clash.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s trip to Merseyside, Real Madrid’s headmaster, though, confirmed:

“We will train at Valdebebas before the Liverpool match. Why? Because I don’t want 200 cameras at the training session.”

Los Blancos are of course primed to turn focus back towards matters on the continent on Tuesday night.

Fresh off a dominant victory over Valencia in La Liga at the weekend, Alonso and co. will be tasked with getting the better of Arne Slot’s Liverpool in the Champions League.

The Reds, for their part, most recently recovered from an alarming dip in form by putting Aston Villa to the sword this past weekend.
