With reserves, PSG beat Metz ahead of Copa do Brasil final against Flamengo

With reserves, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Metz 3-2 this Saturday at Saint-Symphorien, in the 16th round of the French Championship. Gonçalo Ramos, Ndjantou, and Doué scored the goals for the Parisian team. Deminguet and Tsitaishvili scored for the visitors.

Flamengo on the horizon!

This was Paris Saint-Germain's last match before the grand final of the Intercontinental Cup against Flamengo. Earlier, the Rubro-Negro beat Pyramids 2-0, with goals from Léo Pereira and Danilo, and advanced to the tournament final.

With an eye on the clash against the team from Rio, coach Luis Enrique rested several PSG starters. João Neves, Nuno Mendes, Doué, and Kvaratskhelia, for example, started on the bench. The final is scheduled for next Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. (Brasília time), in Al-Rayyan, Qatar.

Standings

With the victory, PSG overtakes Lens and jumps to the top of Ligue 1, with 36 points. However, the second-placed team visits Nice this Sunday at 1:15 p.m. (Brasília time) and could reclaim the top spot.

Metz, meanwhile, remains at the bottom of the table, with just 11 points.

How was the match?

Luis Enrique brought on some starters and saw the Parisian team extend their lead 18 minutes into the second half. Doué led a counterattack with plenty of space and shot past the goalkeeper. The home side managed a second goal through Tsitaishvili at 36 minutes, but couldn't find the equalizer.
