Woltemade heads Newcastle to victory | OneFootball

Nick Woltemade rose highest to give his new club all three points at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The summer has been an epic transfer saga for Newcastle United with the impending exit of Alexander Isak and the difficulty in finding a replacement.

Woltemade did not appear to be top of Eddie Howe's wishlist but he showed exactly what he is all about against Wolves.

The home side were the better of the two in the first half and took the lead with just under a half hour gone. Jacob Murphy sent in a cross from the right that Woltemade, towering highest as you would expect for some of his size, was able to head past Sam Johnstone.

Newcastle may well have felt like they should have been further ahead after the first 45 minutes, especially with the second half becoming a cagey affair.

However, the Magpies defence held out meaning that Newcastle moved up to ninth in the table while Wolves remain bottom with four defeats from four.
