Xabi Alonso admits Real Madrid substitute was the game-changer vs Getafe | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has moved to lavish praise on a member of his midfield ranks on Sunday.

The player in question? Arda Güler.

Youngster Arda was for his part forced to make do with a place on the bench from the off this evening.

As much came as Real Madrid made the short trip across Spain’s capital for a La Liga meeting with Getafe.

When all was said and done, Los Blancos emerged on the right side of a hard-fought 1-0 result, to retake their place atop the Spanish top-flight table.

And the aforementioned Arda proved himself pivotal in as much.

Introduced off the bench during the 2nd-half at the Estadio Coliseum, the Turkish international slipped Kylian Mbappé through to notch the game’s only goal.

Speaking to the media post-match, boss Xabi Alonso was therefore quick to make clear his appreciation for Arda once more:

“Arda was very good, he came in and immediately impacted the game. His connection with Kylian is so good.”
