FLW rounds-up the latest transfer news surrounding Sheffield Wednesday defender Yan Valery.
Yan Valery’s future remains up in the air at Sheffield Wednesday during the remainder of the January transfer window.
The Tunisia international arrived at Hillsborough in the summer of 2024, featuring 39 times for the Owls in his debut term, registering three goals and four assists as the Yorkshire outfit secured a 12th-place finish under Danny Rohl.
And Valery has been a mainstay this campaign too, with his versatility a huge bonus for Henrik Pedersen to be able to utilise.
Due to the lack of depth in the squad due to limited financial resources, Valery has played in central defence, at right-back, in central midfield and even on the right flank, eager to help out the team in any way he possibly can.
Valery has made his way through the challenging period Sheffield Wednesday were going through under Dejphon Chansiri too, continuing to represent the club as they looked nailed on for relegation back down to League One.
The majority of football supporters will be looking out to see if the Owls can secure new owners and have a prosperous future in the years to come, but with this transitional phase still ongoing, it’s likely that the club will have to sell more first-team assets to avoid the threat of the administration process being extended.
That includes the likes of club captain Barry Bannan, who has been touted for a move to second-tier rivals Millwall, Stoke City and Preston North End in recent times.
And another exit could be defender Valery, who hasn’t been short of speculation himself when it comes to suitors pursuing his signature, after he recently arrived back from African Cup of Nations duty.
With this in mind, FLW wraps up the latest transfer news surrounding Valery ahead of a mooted exit from Sheffield Wednesday.

According to the Star, Rangers are interested in making a move for Sheffield Wednesday defender Yan Valery, which would see a reunion with former Owls boss Danny Rohl.
Rohl played a massive part in Valery’s decision to join Wednesday after they shared time together at Southampton, and the Glasgow outfit are believed to hold a 'serious' interest in the 24-year-old.
Rangers are expected to table a bid for the versatile defender before the end of the window, testing Wednesday’s resolve as the deadline ticks closer.
It’s also understood Rangers have made an enquiry regarding the availability of fellow Owls defender Max Lowe, with the Gers eyeing a double raid from Hillsborough.

As per the same report by The Star, there is also Championship interest in defender Yan Valery after making his mark in the second-tier over the last couple of seasons, with Wrexham and Millwall in the hunt for his signature.
Like Rangers, Wrexham are also expected to table an offer for Valery before the end of the transfer window, possessing powerful financial resources after being touted to bid £19m for Angers striker Sidiki Cherif, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Meanwhile, Millwall, who are striving for promotion to the Premier League under Alex Neil, are also believed to be holding an interest in Valery to bolster their defensive ranks, while they are among a number of suitors for Barry Bannan and Bailey Cadamarteri..

Meanwhile, Yan Valery is having trouble on the injury front for Sheffield Wednesday, which could mean he has played his last game for the club.
Speaking to the media ahead of their clash with Bristol City, Henrik Pedersen confirmed that there was concern over Valery’s condition following their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Birmingham City in midweek.
As reported by the Star, Pedersen said: “Let’s see tomorrow.
“Yan had some problems after the game, so let’s see what happens with him. Svante had some problems also after the game, so let’s see with him. I hope for the best.”
It would be a body blow for the Owls to miss such an important player in Valery, given his immense versatility and quality, while the squad has been decimated in recent times, struggling to keep up with the relentless nature of the division.
Wednesday fans will, of course, be hoping that their match with Birmingham won’t be the last they see of Valery in blue and white, but his transfer saga could take a twist in the coming days as speculation continues to ramp up.
