Thursday evening marks a significant point in Michael Zetterer's career. He and Eintracht Frankfurt take on Galatasaray, with the goalkeeper getting his first taste of Champions League action.
The Turkish Super Lig champions travel to the Hessen state with stars like Leroy Sané and Ilkay Gündogan, which only fires up Zetterer even more for the occasion.
"I'm incredibly excited about the game. At club level, it doesn't get any bigger than the Champions League. It's the biggest game of my career so far.
"I'm really looking forward to it. I moved here from [Werder] Bremen for experiences like this," said Zetterer, in an interview with popular German tabloid Sport BILD.
The 30-year-old also explained that he turned down West Ham United in the Premier League in favour of Frankfurt who immediately conveyed a special feeling to him.
“I wanted to stay in Germany and I really appreciate the Bundesliga. And with a club like Eintracht Frankfurt, I didn't have to think long. The ambitious goals appealed to me.
“I immediately had a good gut feeling, which only improved through discussions with the coaches and management,” Zetterer explained with a grin.
