Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes delivered an impressive performance for Brazil during their 1-0 win over Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier.
The centre-back has been in-and-out of the starting line-up for his national team, but he got the nod last night after an injury for Eder Militao.
Gabriel had a nervy start, but he grew in confidence as the game went on. He looked assured with the ball and made a terrific goal-line clearance.
Here is how Globo Esporte reacted to his performance
“Too nervous in the first half, when he got involved in two disputes with the interference of the referee. He also risked little with the ball on his foot but saved a goal over the line.“
Gabriel won 100% of his ground duels and 50% of his aerial challenges against Ecuador. He had 101 touches with a passing accuracy of 90%.
The 26-year-old was not dribbled past, but did commit one foul. He should be pleased with his clearance off the line which ensured the victory.
