Claims that David Beckham had opened talks to sign Cristiano Ronaldo for Inter Miami in 2025, to line up with Lionel Messi, spread rapidly and sparked controversy.

According to Goal.com, posts circulating online alleged Fabrizio Romano said Beckham offered up to €1.4 billion, which Ronaldo supposedly rejected to stay in Saudi Arabia before renewing with Al-Nassr.

Checks found no record of those remarks on Romano’s verified accounts, and there have been no recent comments from Beckham about deals or negotiations of this kind.

The claims originated from a satirical X account mimicking Romano’s name and photo, whose inaccurate posts helped the rumour travel without any real basis.

Separate to the speculation, Beckham oversaw the opening of Inter Miami’s new home, Nu Stadium, where the team drew 2-2 with Austin FC early on Sunday.

Lionel Messi headed the opener in the 10th minute. The visitors fought back, and Luis Suárez equalised in the 82nd minute, sealing a point in their first official outing at the new ground as reigning MLS champions.
