Hull City could be in store for a very busy summer, as the club will be under new management heading into the new season.

The Tigers decided to part ways with Liam Rosenior not long after the season ended, after he failed to get the club into the play-offs, with them finishing in seventh place.

So, Hull are still searching for a new manager, but whoever it is, it is likely they will want to put their own stamp on the team, as it is currently made up of Rosenior’s time there.

But as well as looking to bring players in, given how well the club did this season, one or two of their key players may be being eyed by the opposition.

Jacob Greaves is one of those players, and he has already been heavily linked with a few sides, including West Ham United.

However, the Tigers could have just received a boost in their bid to retain the defender, as the Hammers are closing in on a deal to sign Fabricio Bruno for £15 million.

West Ham are another team that is also under a new manager heading into the 2024/25 season.

The Premier League side decided to part ways with David Moyes, and they have appointed Julian Lopetegui as his replacement.

It now seems as though the Spaniard is closing in on his first signing of the summer, as Fabricio Bruno edges closer to becoming a West Ham player.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers have agreed a deal worth £15 million with Brazilian side Flamengo to sign the 28-year-old.

This will be a new defender joining a side that already has a few options in the heart of defence. Therefore, this development could be good news for Hull and their bid to keep hold of Greaves.

As mentioned, Hull City could potentially face a busy but tricky summer transfer window, as they have one or two players who have emerged on the radar of other clubs.

Jacob Greaves is one of those players, as he’s just come off the back of another stellar season in the Championship.

Greaves played and started all 43 league games he was available for in the 2023/24 season, averaging 90 minutes per game, and his performances even got an acknowledgement from Sofascore.com.

In those games, Greaves did grab two goals, and he chipped in with an impressive four assists, as he created four big chances for his teammates.

But it was the 23-year-old’s defensive work that impressed many, as he averaged an interception per game as well as 1.8 tackles and only dribbled past 0.5 times per game. All of this helped him be part of a defence that kept 11 clean sheets when he was on the pitch, as per Sofascore.com.

So, it is no surprise to see the player being linked heavily to a team like West Ham, but with the Hammers now going into the market and buying Fabricio Bruno, it could be good news for the Tigers.

It seems unlikely that West Ham are going to go back into the market and sign another central defender for around the same price. So, in that aspect, it is good news, as it means West Ham will probably not come knocking for Greaves.

However, it could open the door for other teams to look at Greaves, as they may see West Ham signing someone else as a chance to get into the race for the Hull defender.

But if the Hammers are paying £15 million for a 28-year-old defender from Flamengo, it could mean Hull look to get much more for Greaves than they originally wanted.

It was reported that Hull would be looking for around £15 million for Greaves, but given what West Ham are paying for Bruno, the Tigers could up that price a bit.

Hull will be pleased to see the Premier League side signing a centre-back, but they will know it is very early in the window to be confident that Greaves will still be a Hull player in a few months time.
