Hansi Flick named a notably extended Barcelona squad for the pre-season tour of Asia, giving several La Masia talents a golden opportunity to train and feature alongside the first team.
Among them was 17-year-old Guille Fernandez, who, alongside his cousin Toni, earned a spot on the travelling list.
Furthermore, Guille was given around 15 minutes by Hansi Flick in the second game against FC Seoul, and he managed to catch the eye with his performance despite the limited time on the pitch.
It served as a reminder that he is a player with massive potential. However, considering the sheer number of options Flick has in midfield, Guille is unlikely to break into the Barcelona first team anytime soon.
Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, the teenager is set to meet with his agent, Jorge Mendes, later this week to assess his options and make a decision about his future.
One of those options is to stay with Barça Atlètic and continue working under Juliano Belletti, but Guille is not short of offers. In Germany, Borussia Dortmund are reportedly very interested in signing him.
There is also interest from French and Portuguese clubs, with both loan and permanent transfers on the table. Ultimately, the 17-year-old needs to make a wise decision for his future.
From a Barcelona perspective, it’s reasonable to assume that the club will not want to lose control over such a talented player.
Therefore, Deco could look to negotiate either a simple loan deal or a permanent sale with a reasonable buy-back clause. Let’s wait and see what the future holds for young Guille.
