With 33 goals after 17 matches, RB Leipzig are among the Bundesliga’s most potent attacking sides this season. But the numbers tell only part of the story. Behind that output sits a clear, recurring pattern – one built around Christoph Baumgartner, Rômulo and Yan Diomande.
Whenever the trio are on the pitch together, games tend to tilt towards Leipzig’s tempo. Runs become deeper, moves more direct and finishes more ruthless.

The impact is backed up by the figures. Between them, the attacking trio have scored 18 goals – more than half of Leipzig’s total this season. Even more striking is how evenly the burden is shared.
Baumi, Rômulo and Yan are all on six goals apiece. Across the league, only FC Bayern can boast more players with at least six Bundesliga goals.

The trio don’t just finish moves – they also create them. Rômulo and Yan have each provided three assists, while Baumgartner has already laid on seven. That adds up to 31 direct goal involvements – a return that looks far more like a clear game plan than coincidence.
Only twice have Leipzig scored without one of the trio contributing directly: in the 1-0 win in Mainz, and in the 3-1 defeat in Berlin.
All three scoring in the same match? That hasn’t happened yet. But why not on Saturday at 1. FC Heidenheim?
The reverse fixture certainly offered a taste of what’s possible. In the 2-0 home win at the Red Bull Arena, Baumi smashed the ball into the net from a tight angle with an absolute thunderbolt. Rômulo followed up with a clever back-heel to underline Leipzig’s dominance. All that was missing was a Diomande goal.
Maybe that will come this Saturday at the Voith-Arena...
