2. Bundesliga: Osnabrück cruise past Braunschweig with three second-half goals | OneFootball

After a goalless first half, Daniel Kofi Kyereh broke the deadlock shortly after the restart before Bjarke Jacobsen and Robin Meißner added further goals to put Osnabrück firmly in control.

Yann Sturm scored a late consolation for Braunschweig, but it was not enough to prevent Osnabrück from securing all three points.

The opening stages were relatively cautious, with neither side willing to take too many risks. Osnabrück won the first corner of the afternoon after just five minutes, although the delivery was comfortably dealt with by the Braunschweig defence.

The visitors gradually began to see more of the ball and looked the more threatening side as the first half progressed.

Their best opportunity came in the 21st minute when Andi Hoti struck the post for the visitors, with Osnabrück fortunate not to fall behind.

Braunschweig continued to press for the opener, while Osnabrück struggled to create anything of note in the final third. The hosts did not register their first shot on target until the 41st minute.

Despite Braunschweig’s greater attacking threat, neither side could find a breakthrough before half-time, leaving the game goalless at the interval.

Osnabrück head coach Timo Schultz responded by introducing Kyereh at the beginning of the second half, and the substitute immediately made his presence felt.

Just seven minutes after the restart, the hosts took the lead.

Beck delivered a corner into the penalty area, with Jacobsen meeting the cross with a header. Braunschweig goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann could only parry the initial effort, leaving Kyereh with the simplest of tasks as he reacted quickest to hammer the rebound into the roof of the net.

Kyereh almost immediately added a second as Osnabrück broke into the Braunschweig penalty area again shortly afterwards, but Hoffmann managed to clear the danger as the visitors survived another scare.

Braunschweig attempted to respond through a series of substitutions, with Junior Zé and Jan Urbich introduced in the 61st minute.

However, Osnabrück continued to look the more dangerous side and eventually doubled their advantage in the 76th minute.

Bjarke Jacobsen found the back of the net to make it 2-0, giving Osnabrück a two-goal cushion and putting the hosts firmly in control.

The result was effectively put beyond doubt just four minutes later when Robin Meißner struck in the 80th minute to make it 3-0.

Braunschweig did manage to find a late consolation through Yann Sturm, who reduced the deficit to 3-1 in the 88th minute.

However, there was to be no late comeback as Osnabrück comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to claim a deserved victory in front of 15,741 supporters at the Bremer Brücke.
