Hertha maintained their positive momentum with a first home victory of the season, as Sebastian Grønning stole the spotlight with a decisive brace.
The hosts started brightly and thought they had taken the lead when Fabian Reese’s stunning effort from the touchline found the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. Münster threatened in response, forcing Tjark Ernst and Deyovaisio Zeefuik into key interventions to keep the scores level. Moments later, Hertha made their pressure count as Grønning fired home from a Michael Cuisance corner to make it 1-0 at the break.
Münster head coach Alexander Ende introduced a double change at half-time in search of a spark, but the visitors were immediately undone again. Just seven minutes after the restart, Grønning doubled Hertha’s lead with a composed finish inside the box. Marten Winkler later missed a clear chance to put the game beyond doubt.
Etienne Ameniyedo’s strike gave Münster late hope, but Hertha held firm to secure a deserved win and climb to eighth place. Münster, meanwhile, suffered a third defeat in four matches and sit 11th in the table.
Kaiserslautern extended their unbeaten home record after surviving a late Bochum fightback in a thrilling encounter at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion.
Torsten Lieberknecht’s men made a flying start, taking the lead inside seven minutes when Ivan Prtajin continued his fine scoring form with a sharp finish past Timo Horn. Bochum responded well, and Gerrit Holtmann’s deflected effort levelled the scores midway through the first half as Uwe Rösler’s side showed spirit under their new coach.
Chances were scarce before the interval, but Lautern came out firing in the second half. Horn repeatedly denied the hosts with a string of strong saves, while the woodwork also came to Bochum’s rescue.
Persistence eventually paid off in the 79th minute when Prtajin latched onto a through ball and coolly slotted home his seventh goal in six games. Paul Joly added a third soon after to seemingly seal the result, though a stoppage-time own goal from Jan Elvedi set up a nervy finish at 3-2.
Kaiserslautern held on to secure another impressive home victory, moving up to fifth place. Bochum remain in 17th, though Rösler will take encouragement from his team’s improved attacking display.
Darmstadt entered the weekend as league leaders but were below their usual standards, while Kiel were left frustrated not to claim all three points after a dominant display.
The home side controlled much of the first half, with Marcel Schuhen producing several key saves to deny Phil Harres and Adrian Kapralik. Darmstadt rarely threatened and were fortunate to go into the break level.
Kiel continued to press after the restart, yet wastefulness in front of goal proved costly once again. Against the run of play, Darmstadt struck first on 54 minutes through the league’s top scorer Isac Lidberg, who found the bottom corner with a precise finish to score for the fifth consecutive match.
Kiel hit back just over ten minutes later when defender David Zec deservedly levelled from close range. Despite sustained pressure, the hosts were repeatedly thwarted by the inspired Schuhen, who ensured Darmstadt escaped with a point.
The draw changes little for either side - Kiel sit 10th on 10 points, while Darmstadt remain top on goal difference but will need a sharper attacking display next weekend at home to Magdeburg to stay ahead of the chasing pack.
