Norwich City confirmed on Sunday that they’d parted ways with head coach Liam Manning, with former Arsenal player and academy coach Ryan Garry to take charge of the team on an interim basis.
Garry will be supported by goalkeeper coach Tony Roberts and set-piece coach Nick Stanley, as Norwich work to appoint a new full-time head coach.
The interim boss becomes the second former Gunner to take charge of Norwich this year, with Jack Wilshere having the same interim position at the same club between April and May. Wilshere is now in a permanent managerial position at Luton Town.

It’s not hugely surprising that there’s a bit of an Arsenal connection at Norwich City, given former Arsenal loan manager Ben Knapper is Norwich’s sporting director.
Knapper would have worked closely with Arsenal’s academy coaches in his role as a loan manager, as most loanees came from the youth teams at that time. Both Wilshere and Garry worked as academy coaches for Arsenal during Knapper’s spell at the club.
Garry ended up leaving Arsenal in 2021 to become the head coach of the England u18s. He then worked in an assistant manager role at Belgian side Lommel SK and even took the top job on an interim basis in January.

Since the summer, Garry has been working as a first-team coach at Norwich, and he’ll now get the chance to lead the team until a permanent appointment is made.
