Flamengo and West Ham have settled the total fee and a 24-month payment term for Lucas Paquetá, but the size of the 2026 instalment remains the final stumbling block.
According to Globo.com, the clubs set the price at 41.25 million euros, R$ 255.9 million, and an upfront sum, but by Tuesday morning there was no full agreement.
Beyond the immediate amount, Flamengo would pay again in 2026, further instalments in 2027 and a final sum in 2028, though that schedule could change. The key argument is how much lands this year, with West Ham seeking more than Flamengo propose. The gap is 4 to 5 million euros.
The breakdown matters, with Flamengo balancing their 2026 budget commitments and West Ham weighing financial fair play and investment plans. Talks have been fluid.
Flamengo believe their current offer fits the club’s finances and have little appetite to stretch it. President Bap has told colleagues he does not intend to push further.
Despite the final hurdle, Flamengo have started drafting Paquetá’s contract, with a club-player agreement in place for weeks. The aim had been to register him for the Supercopa on Sunday.
Paquetá has pushed for an immediate release and has not played recently. A Flamengo academy graduate, he debuted in 2016 and joined West Ham in 2022 via Milan and Lyon. If finalised, it would be the biggest deal in Brazilian club history, surpassing Gerson to Cruzeiro.
