Arsène Wenger sees only one team capable of winning the 2026 World Cup—and, unsurprisingly, it's Les Bleus, the French national team.
This Friday night marks the draw for the 2026 World Cup. Just hours before the ceremony, Arsène Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, didn’t hesitate to name France as the tournament’s leading favorite. “Trying to be as objective as possible, I think France are the clear favorites. For one simple reason: they have more world-class forwards than any other country. Having such depth and quality on the bench will make the difference,” he told The Sun. For Wenger, the attacking firepower of Les Bleus is a decisive asset. “France are the big favorite,” he emphasized.
On the other hand, Wenger tempered hopes for the Three Lions: “They’re always almost there. They need to take that final step. They have the quality to win. But to be objective, I think France are superior.”
