After 2012 and 2025, FC Bayern’s Allianz Arena will stage the men’s Champions League for the third time in May 2028. The UEFA executive committee has approved the bid from Munich City Council, with the match set to be played on 27 May 2028. It means the Allianz Arena will again be the host of the most important match in European club football, just three years after the successful staging of the 2025 final. The event is planed to run for four days from 25 to 28 May 2028 – including two fan meeting points in the city centre and a centrally located Champions Festival.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of FC Bayern: “This is great news for us: the Allianz Arena, FC Bayern and Munich stand for international appeal, real hospitality and the highest organisational standards. UEFA knows that, and sports fans from around the world experience that. We are pleased to be the hosts of the Champions League final for the third time after 2012 and 2025. We want to provide the fans with another incredible experience, and present Munich as a cosmopolitan, sports-loving and ideally equipped host city. Such a big event can also give an important boost to the bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which we as FC Bayern are fully supporting. We will once again show that Munich knows how to do big sporting events.”

Munich Mayor Dominik Krause: “The fact that UEFA has put its trust in Munich again, just three years after the 2025 final, is a special honour for our city. Munich is synonymous with great sporting moments, excellent facilities and passionate fans. We look forward to welcoming guests from all over the world again in 2028 and celebrating a festival of football together.”

Overall it will be the sixth time that the final of Europe’s premier club competition is held in Munich. The Bavarian state capital previously hosted it in 1979, 1993 and 1997 at the Olympiastadion, as well as in 2012 and 2025.
