Barcelona are actively looking for new signings in the summer transfer window and have already kicked off with the signing of Anthony Gordon.
What is clear from their transfer plans so far is that the club prioritise the signing of forwards and defenders in the ongoing transfer window.
The midfield, after all, is seemingly stacked in quality and resources and is in no urgent need for any new profiles.
While Barcelona may not make any real midfield signings ahead of next season, there is one clear boost they will receive in the department when compared to the squad a year ago.
Indeed, the factor in question is none other than Gavi who has made a strong comeback from his latest injury and is looking close to his best.

A cruciate ligament tear he suffered in 2023 ended his season instantly, and he looked set to start the season with prominence for Barcelona at the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign. An unexpected knee setback early in the campaign, however, threw his season back into chaos.
From that point, he began another gruelling battle back to fitness and made his re-launch in March. From that point, he slowly recovered his confidence and looked sharp on the ball – reminding the world that the old Gavi is gunning for a return.
Gavi was rewarded for his grit and fighting spirit with a spot on Luis de la Fuente’s side for the FIFA World Cup and will thus play in the event this month.

Needless to say, one hopes it marks the beginning of an injury-free run for the player and helps him launch himself back into Barcelona’s starting XI.
In many ways, Gavi will be Hansi Flick’s ‘new’ signing in midfield as he provides something that is critical to the team – technical ability, intensity, pressure, aggression and commitment.
More than anything, he is capable of changing the rhythm and flow of the game and is a disruptive presence who is invaluable to Flick’s style. If fully fit, there may be no displacing Gavi from Barcelona’s starting XI.
