FLW's QPR fan pundit has shared their thoughts on who they believe will leave the club in January

Queens Park Rangers have begun the 2026/27 Championship season strongly, and as Julien Stephan looks to finally guide the R's into a play-off place this campaign, the French boss may already be looking ahead to the January window to trim and improve his squad.

QPR have won three, drawn four, and lost one of their opening eight games of the season, and at this stage, look like a good bet to go on and achieve a top eight finish this year.

A solid transfer window with minimal spend saw each of Boy Kemper, Tariq Lamptey, and Dennis Cirkin join on free transfers, whilst Pierce Charles and Glenn Kamara arrived on loan, as the West London outfit managed to retain all of their key assets over the summer.

However, whilst the likes of Sam Field, Steve Cook, Zan Celar, and Murphy Cooper each left the club to clear out wages, some fringe players surprisingly remained.

Football League World's Queens Park Rangers fan pundit backs the January departure of 'lightweight' Liam Morrison

Football League World's QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, has shared their thoughts on who they were surprised didn't leave the club in the summer, and who they expect to leave in the upcoming January window.

Louis said: "I think Liam Morrison may want to move away in January. I think, realistically, he's not going to play a minute up until then; whether we have an injury crisis, that will probably be the only reason he plays at centre-half.

"As long as Dunne, Edwards, even Clarke-Salter stay fit, you know, Mbengue can play centre-half. Well, technically, he is a centre-half anyway; there's just no way he's going to fit in at all.

"I was surprised he was still here, to be fair. He clearly wasn't fancied under Stephan, and we decided to loan him to Aberdeen. I don't think he necessarily did that well there. I really thought he was bound to leave the club, at least on loan, if not permanently in the summer.

"Obviously it didn't happen, now he's just sticking around and, as I said, won't play a game unless there's an injury crisis at the back. So it's a bit of a weird one.

"Obviously, if he goes, then you could say we might look a bit light at centre-half if we do get an injury or two, but I just find it hard to believe that he'll get any game time, especially when he wasn't fancied under this manager last season. So yeah, I can't really see him having a future at QPR.

"He's not a bad defender, he's not a bad footballer, but I just think for the Championship, he's maybe too lightweight. He gets caught out a bit, and maybe he's arguably not actually good enough for the Championship.

"I think if I were him, I'd be looking to get a loan move, definitely, and then just see where he goes from there. But look, he's still 23. He could potentially come back after a loan move in January, for example, and try and kick on with us next year, but I just can't see it.

"So yeah, best of luck to him. But I think he will be desperate for a move because he's not going to play any football from now till January at least.

Why Liam Morrison could leave Queens Park Rangers in January

Morrison, 23, joined QPR in the summer of 2024, having previously spent five years contracted to German titans Bayern Munich, though never making a senior appearance for the Bavarians.

Since then, the Scot has made just 33 appearances across all competitions for the R's, and with the likes of Jake Clarke-Salter, Ronnie Edwards, Jimmy Dunne, and Amadou Mbengue ahead of him in the pecking order, his minutes don't look likely to increase anytime soon.

He has appeared on the bench in four of the eight Championship matches QPR have played so far this campaign, but has not managed to earn a single minute of action thus far, and with that unlikely to change, a January exit is surely his most obvious fate.

Of course, whilst Morrison is not high up in Stephan's preference list of defensive options, there is a reason the Frenchman decided to keep the Scot around.

QPR have suffered from injury woes since the former Stade Rennes boss arrived through the doors, and given Clarke Salter's injury susceptibility, in particular, he likely didn't want to risk being short in that area of the pitch.

However, at 23, Morrison is missing out on crucial development time and must be actively looking for minutes come January; if his situation in West London remains unchanged by then, an exit will surely be sanctioned, as long as Stephan allows it.
