Something isn’t quite right with Rodrygo Goes at Real Madrid.
A goal drought is a part of every striker’s life, but the Brazilian’s struggle has stretched far beyond what anyone expected and it is beginning to leave a shadow over his once-bright trajectory at the club.
The numbers tell a painful story. The last time Rodrygo, who is reportedly on Chelsea’s radar, found the back of the net in an official match was March 4th, 2025, a whopping 245 days ago.
Eight long months without a goal. For a player of his quality, that kind of drought can weigh heavily.
His last goal came in the Champions League round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid, when he briefly put Real ahead.
That moment, which could have been the spark for a strong finish to the season, instead became a turning point.
What followed was a sequence of disappointments that has continued into Xabi Alonso’s era.
Even the Club World Cup, which should have been a stage for redemption, passed without any sign of resurgence.

The new campaign was meant to reset everything. Rodrygo looked sharp in pre-season, scoring in the team’s only friendly and earning a start in the second league match.
But since then, the momentum has disappeared. No goals and one assist so far, which is not enough to make a meaningful impact in a team that demands constant excellence.
Alonso has publicly backed him, showing trust despite the numbers, but confidence alone hasn’t been enough to reignite Rodrygo’s spark.
His minutes have been inconsistent, and when he does feature, he looks like a player searching for answers rather than creating them.
It is not that he doesn’t try. He still runs, presses, and works hard for his teammates. But effort without reward can be cruel in football.
For now, Rodrygo’s drought has become more than just a statistic as it is a reflection of a player caught between confidence and frustration, faith and doubt.
Real Madrid still believe in him. Alonso still trusts him. But the time for patience is running short.
