Three players Derby County must attempt to sign following an agreement to bring Alex Mowatt to Pride Park
Derby County are closing in on the signing of Alex Mowatt from West Brom after an agreement between the two clubs.
According to journalist John Percy, the midfielder is set to make the switch to the Rams as we approach the final two weeks of the transfer market.
The 31-year-old has been a key figure for the Baggies over the last three seasons, making a total of 125 league appearances in that period.
He has also contributed 10 goals and 11 assists, with West Brom finishing fifth, ninth and 21st in the table.
But Mowatt’s impending arrival at Pride Park may not be the end of the Derbyshire outfit’s transfer business between now and the 1 September deadline.
Here we look at three players who should follow him to Derby before the market closes…

Jamie Vardy is currently a free agent after leaving Cremonese at the end of the previous campaign.
The striker spent one year in Italy, scoring seven goals in Serie A from 29 appearances, but could now make the move back to English football.
The 39-year-old is coming to the final stages of his career, but could still be of use to a club like Derby.
The injury to Patrick Agyemang has left John Eustace’s side in an awkward position where they could use one more attacker on a short-term basis.
And Vardy could be an ideal solution to this problem, as he still possesses plenty of quality for his age, but won’t be wanting to hang around long-term either.
While West Ham have been linked with the former Leicester City star, the Rams should pounce to bring him in for this season.

David Ozoh spent last season on loan with Derby, where he proved himself as a valuable member of the squad.
The midfielder returned to Crystal Palace over the summer, but could be available as it’s unclear whether he is part of Pierre Sage’s side going forward.
It’s been reported that Hull City are interested in the 21-year-old following their promotion to the Premier League, which offers stiff competition for the Rams.
But it would make a lot of sense for the Championship side to pursue a deal to bring Ozoh back to the club given the impact he made last season.
The midfielder featured 33 times in the league in 2025/26, contributing two goals, as the team finished eighth in the table.

It was exclusively revealed by FLW earlier this month that Derby are interested in a deal to sign Finn Surman.
The centre-back starred for New Zealand at the World Cup in North America earlier this summer, but could now make the switch to English football.
The 22-year-old even scored in the nation’s 3-1 loss to Egypt in the group stage, and his performances have put him on Derby’s radar.
Adding another defender would make a lot of sense for Eustace’s side, who are a little light in that area.
