Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has been cut from Argentina’s World Cup squad after a poor first season with the Blues after signing for £40m.

It’s a sign of how his regression that the 21 year old has gone from playing at the Copa America in 2024 to not in the squad at all two years later. The former Man U man featured three times in qualifying for this tournament, but has been left at home for the real thing.

Garnacho must use World Cup exclusive as wake up call

Hopefully this is a major wake-up call for Garnacho. We would imagine that Chelsea are trying to sell him this summer, but will struggle to get a fee they can accept after a poor season.

If he stays at Stamford Bridge, he need to improve massively on what we saw last season, which was a pretty shockingly ineffective debut campaign. Xabi Alonso will give him a chance, but as it stands the winger’s career is going downhill fast.

Enzo continues to be linked with moves away from Chelsea, and at least one Premier League rival is now keen on the Argentine.

Ibrahima Konate was expected to sign a new deal at Liverpool, but instead has hit the open market as a free agent. Chelsea are interested, according to reports today.
