Leeds United have been linked with a £47m move for AC Milan star Rafael Leao, but the reality at Elland Road is far more prosaic.

According to Leedsunited.news, reports in Türkiye claimed Leeds and Aston Villa lodged matching offers of €50m plus €5m in add-ons, and that Leao sought €10m per year, about £8.5m or £164,000 a week.

No credible UK reporters or Elland Road insiders have corroborated any formal bid. Intermediaries offered Leao to several Premier League clubs, including Leeds, to test interest, but the hierarchy declined immediately given the overall cost.

Even an ambitious splash would jar with 49ers Enterprises’ wage structure, and committing to that salary level would be illogical for Leeds at this stage.

Supporters can therefore discount talk of a swoop, this looks like transfer-window noise rather than a live negotiation. With the claim originating in Istanbul and Galatasaray pursuing attackers, it is viewed as more likely an agent tactic to flush out the Turkish club.
