FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit can still see at least five players leave Bramall Lane this summer

We're in the final month of the summer transfer window, and at Sheffield United, there's still a lot of work that needs to be done.

The Blades have made just the two signings thus far, bringing in Matt Docherty on a free transfer and Romelle Donovan on loan, while Jairo Riedewald signed a new contract, despite it not looking likely in the immediate wake of last season ending.

Chris Wilder will definitely be looking to sign more players to help bolster the squad to try and return to being a play-off-calibre side, but with this being their first transfer window as a Championship side without Premier League parachute payments, money is, understandably, tight.

Andre Brooks has been the marquee departure so far this summer, signing for Championship rivals Norwich City for £8 million, and he likely won't be the only key sale between now and September 1.

FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit, Jimmy, the host of the Blades Ramble, doesn't think that these players will be at Bramall Lane in a month.

Sydie Peck

It's been a while since the likes of Brentford, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United were all interested in Sydie Peck, but Jimmy imagines that interest will be rife once more as the window enters its final weeks.

The 21-year-old was one of the more well-rounded defensive midfielders in the Championship last season.

Not only did he score his first goals for the club and end the campaign with nine goal contributions in the league, but he was in the top 10% of defensive midfielders for defensive contributions, recoveries and duels won, per FotMob.

"I would expect Sydie Peck to leave," the fan pundit said. "Nothing is a guarantee, but he's the most likely to leave.

"There's a lot of interest in him, and he's a very saleable asset. I think his value is topping out in terms of what we'd expect to get for him, too, so I think it's an ideal team to sell, as we're in a spot where we need to."

Gustavo Hamer is the subject of interest from former club Coventry City, who sold the Dutchman to the Bramall Lane-based side when the Blades were a newly-promoted Premier League club back in 2023.

Now the tables have turned, and Sheffield United are braced for a second bid soon.

"Obviously, Gus Hamer is the one that there's a lot of discussion around, as there's just one year left on his deal. That could go any which way," Jimmy added.

While Sheffield United are standing firm on their player valuation for Hamer, the Dutchman's route out of Bramall Lane may seem a lot more straightforward, as the Blades face losing him for free in June at the end of his contract if he doesn't leave now.

In addition, Jimmy thinks that Harrison Burrows may be someone whom Sheffield United look to move on to maximise the profits they could get for him.

The 24-year-old was influential under Chris Wilder during the 2024/25 campaign, finishing the year with 12 goal contributions and having a goal disallowed in the play-off final, but he found games hard to come by in his second year at the club.

Sam McCallum emerged as first-choice left-back to begin last season, and only an ankle injury in January, which ruled him out for the rest of the season, allowed Burrows to regain his place. He still finished the year with five goals and four assists, but Jimmy feels that McCallum will resume the starting role now he's fit again.

"I also think there's a big chance that we cash in on Harrison Burrows," he continued.

He fell down the pecking order slightly after a poor season; he's now second choice to Sam McCallum, and there's still value in him, so he could leave."

Like Peck, Burrows harboured interest early on in the window. FLW exclusively revealed that he was on West Ham's radar in late May, but nothing more came from it.

If that interest resurfaces, the 24-year-old may be deemed as someone that the Blades can afford to lose to bring in a decent fee without weakening their starting eleven.

It goes without saying that Sheffield United will be allowing some of their younger talents to leave the club on loan. The likes of Mihail Polendakov and Alex Matos have both been allowed to leave, but Jimmy envisages some more of their under-21s will go, too.

Most notably of all, though, could be Ryan One, who many felt could break into the Blades fold this season, given their financial situation and the fact he has plenty of potential, as shown in bursts while at Lincoln City in the second half of last season.

But Jimmy feels that a full season further down the pyramid will be more than beneficial for the 20-year-old this year, alongside some other youngsters, and he also hopes that Mark McGuinness, who has been transfer-listed, will move on permanently.

"I expect that Ryan One will go out on loan," he said. " I hope some of our other youngsters go out on loan to get up to speed and play men's football, rather than under-21s."

Finally, the fan pundit hopes that Mark McGuinness, who has been transfer-listed, will move on permanently.

It's not been a good debut campaign at Bramall Lane for the former Luton Town man, who Chris Wilder indicated cost the Blades £5 million last summer. In the same interview, the Sheffield United boss stated that he's confident that the Irishman will field interest, and the club are happy to move him on.

"And I'd like to see Mark McGuinness move on," Jimmy concluded.

"He's now been made available for transfer, but whether the interest will be there... I'm not so sure."
