Christopher Nkunku could push to leave Chelsea after becoming unhappy with a lack of game so far this season according to Football Insider.

Nkunku arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2023 from German side RB Leipzig in a deal worth £52m, but his debut season at Stamford Bridge was ruined by injury.

The France international was limited to just 14 appearances in all competitions and only scored three Premier League goals.

Nkunku could push to leave Chelsea

The 27-year-old was one of Chelsea’s stand out performers in pre-season and started the first game of the season against Manchester City.

However, things haven’t gone to plan since and he’s failed to start any of the subsequent ten league games, with the majority of his minutes coming in the cup competitions.

Nkunku is Chelsea’s top scorer in all competitions with 10 goals in 17 appearances, but he’s found it difficult to dislodge Nicolas Jackson from the starting line-up.

Reports have suggested Chelsea would be willing to listen to offers for the Frenchman if they were able to recoup the £52m they paid for him.

A player of Nkunku’s quality has every right to be frustrated with his game time, and he’s also been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Football Insider have now reported Nkunku could push to leave the club after becoming unhappy with a lack of playing time.

The report adds Nkunku is set to demand an increase in game time otherwise he will look to move somewhere where he’s likely to be a first team regular.

With the fixtures coming thick and fast in the build-up to Christmas it’s likely Nkunku will get opportunities to start in the Premier League and make an impact.

The fact Nkunku is under contract until 2029 could make a potential exit difficult, and whilst it’s highly unlikely he leaves in January, if his playing time hasn’t increased much by the end of the season, a summer exit could be a real possibility.
