Chelsea have confirmed left back Caleb Wiley has returned to the club after his loan spell at Championship side Watford was terminated.
Wiley joined Chelsea from MLS side Atalanta United in the summer of 2024, and spent the first half of that season on loan at Strasbourg.
However, injuries limited his game time in France and the Blues recalled him last January, and sent the 21-year-old on loan to Watford for the second half of the campaign.
Wiley made ten appearances over the second half of last season, and the decision was taken last summer to send him back to Vicarage Road on loan.
However, things haven’t gone to plan this season, and injuries have limited the American to just five Championship appearances.

Watford confirmed in a statement on the club’s website they had terminated the loan and sent Wiley back to Chelsea.
“Watford FC confirms the termination of Caleb Wiley’s loan from Chelsea.”
Wiley has missed the last 17 games with what’s believed to be an adductor injury suffered against Oxford back in October.
Chelsea will look to get him back fit, and if possible send him back on loan again this month, but how likely that is remains to be seen.
Whilst Wiley’s loan hasn’t gone to plan, the same can’t be said for young Argentine defender Aaron Anselmino.
Anselmino joined Borussia Dortmund on loan last summer, and has put in a series of impressive performances in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund boss Niko Kovac has been impressed, and Dortmund are reportedly keen on signing Anselmino on a permanent basis.
However, Chelsea have insisted he’s not for sale, and if Anselmino continues his good form he could find himself as part of the first team squad at Stamford Bridge next season.
