These nine players are set to miss Sheffield United's matchup with Norwich City at Bramall Lane

Sheffield United got their first league win under their belts on Tuesday night in dramatic fashion following three straight draws, leaving it late to beat Bolton Wanderers 3-2 at Bramall Lane.

Despite a less-than-ideal transfer window where key players departed, and the replacements were largely loans and free transfers, the Blades are one of five sides in the second tier yet to lose through four games.

Their bid to make it five unbeaten sees them host a Norwich City side who have underperformed expectations so far.

Only Southampton picked up more points in the second half of last season than the Canaries, but Philippe Clement's side have only managed one win in four to open this campaign, losing the other three, including on Tuesday against a Stoke City side who had lost all of their league games leading into it.

Norwich will be keen to turn that around in South Yorkshire, while the Blades will be hoping to make it consecutive home wins in the space of a week. These nine players, though, won't be able to feature.

Sheffield United faced a big injury problem in late August, after Femi Seriki's knee injury was revealed to be keeping the 24-year-old out "for a considerable time." It's a big blow for the Blades, after he registered six goal contributions in what was a breakout season last year.

The Blades were forced into dipping into the transfer market for right-back cover, with Matt Doherty still working his way back to full fitness and Jamie Shackleton's injury history causing some worry, too.

Hamza Choudhury came in and deputised against Bolton, and those three will likely share the minutes on the right side of defence while Seriki recovers.

Harrison Burrows' omission from the last two games was quite the concern for some Sheffield United fans, especially with it being revealed that Burnley had a bid knocked back on deadline day for the left-back.

The 24-year-old remained at Bramall Lane, though, with Chris Wilder revealing that he tweaked a quad in the draw against Swansea City, hence his continued absence.

Ryan One

Exciting 20-year-old Ryan One has been tipped for a breakout campaign for the Blades, but that stalled immediately after picking up a hamstring injury on the Championship's opening day against Birmingham City.

The Sheffield United boss allayed any fears of it being a serious setback, but it's still kept the Scotsman sidelined since that matchup with the Blues.

Tahith Chong

And Curacao international Tahith Chong has also been missing since that opening-day stalemate with Birmingham. The week before, he was taken off after half an hour against Mansfield Town in the EFL Cup.

Wilder stated that both Chong and One were "ongoing issues," ahead of their EFL Cup second-round win over Blackburn Rovers, and it's safe to say that the Blades manager isn't taking any risks in bringing them back too soon.

Jovon Makama

Norwich came away from their loss against Stoke with no real injury concerns, and their injury list is shortening as the weeks go by.

Jovon Makama is back in team training after re-injuring his foot in pre-season, following an initial injury in February taking him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Tuesday's matchup came too soon for a return, and it's expected that the same will ring true on Saturday.

Gabe Forsyth

Scotland under-19 international Gabe Forsyth is also stepping up his recovery after being sidelined for 18 months following a knee injury.

The 20-year-old has played just seven times for the first team since arriving from Hamilton Academical in 2023, but is close to making a return, having featured in an under-21s outing last week.

It may still be a few weeks before Philippe Clement integrates him back into first-team affairs, though.

Mirko Topic

Mirko Topic played just a game and a half under Clement before going down with a season-ending ACL injury last November.

Nearly 10 months on from that injury, the Serbian midfielder is a little further behind Forsyth in his rehab, but it shouldn't be too long until he's back in contention.

The 21-year-old is still listed as a long-term absentee, with Darlin Yongwa currently beginning to make that left-back position his own.

Ali Ahmed

And Ali Ahmed is set to miss the entire 2026/27 campaign after suffering a devastating ACL injury at the start of last month.
