These nine players, alongside Amari'i Bell, find their Charlton Athletic future uncertain at the end of the season
Charlton Athletic are in the midst of consolidating themselves as Championship regulars.
The Addicks have spent more of their recent history in League One than they have in the second tier. Indeed, this season is their first consecutive campaign in the Championship in a decade.
When it comes to reaching the next level, difficult decisions need to be made at the end of each season regarding whose contracts the club will extend, and who will be let go — some of whom will have played an integral part in the project for Charlton thus far.
While not part of their promotion-winning side in 2024/25, Amari'i Bell has been a key member of the Addicks squad since, proving why Nathan Jones signed him for a second time in his managerial career in the summer of 2025.
The two-year deal he signed is set to expire at the end of the season, and alongside him, the higher-ups at the Valley will have decisions to make regarding the futures of these other nine players.

Of the four loanees currently at Charlton, goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is also out of contract at the end of the year, with his deal at Wrexham set to expire at the end of the season, too.
The 25-year-old has been far from first choice in the Championship for the Red Dragons, only coming in last season after Danny Ward was injured, and the arrival of Anthony Patterson this summer firmly demoted him.
He's kept three clean sheets and put in many solid performances through seven games at the Valley this season, and if he can continue in that vein of form, the Addicks should be keen on making the move permanent.

Tyler Bindon's loan move from Nottingham Forest came at a point where Charlton desperately needed defensive reinforcement due to the injury crisis they were facing at the back.
The New Zealand international has slotted in well, playing every minute up until his half-time substitution against Cardiff City in the final game before the international break. He helped the Addicks to consecutive clean sheets before then.
Bindon impressed when given the chance at Sheffield United, and Reading fans know what he's all about at League One level. Perhaps a full year at Charlton could be exactly what the 22-year-old needs to prove to his parent club that he's good enough for the step up.

The two years that Oliver Skipp spent at Leicester City after the Foxes spent in excess of £20 million to bring him in from Tottenham Hotspur have been an outright disaster.
They both ended in relegation, and he'll be desperate not to make it three straight during this loan spell at Charlton, which is serving as a big way for him to recapture some form and prove he's at the level needed to play in the Championship regularly.
So far, the deadline-day loan signing has started every game he's been available for at the Valley and been very solid in the middle of the park for a manager who demands that from his midfielders.

Of the four loanees at the Valley currently, Kenyan midfielder Timothy Ouma is the only one whom Charlton have an option to buy at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old is on loan from Slavia Prague, but spent last season with Lech Poznan, helping them win the Polish top flight. He has experience in both the Europa League and the Conference League.
It's taken Ouma a little while to bed into the Championship, though. His only league start came in that 4-0 drubbing at Stoke City, in which he was substituted at half time. However, he clearly has potential and could be someone the Addicks look to keep on permanently in the summer.

Of all the out-of-contract players at Charlton this summer, Conor Coventry has to be the one the Addicks look to extend first.
The Irishman has been a stalwart of the club's rise under Nathan Jones, joining on a three-and-a-half year deal in January 2024 from West Ham United, just weeks before the Welsh boss arrived at the Valley.
Since the start of the 2024/25 campaign, Coventry has missed just eight league games combined, and has started seven of the eight games this season. The one game he didn't — the side were 4-0 down at half-time against Stoke.
Evidently an important player with over 100 appearances for the club, the 26-year-old should be in line for an extension soon.

Experienced midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah joined Charlton in the summer on a one-year deal following his exit from Sheffield Wednesday.
The 31-year-old has had a torrid time with injury over his last two seasons at Hillsborough. He made just 16 league appearances in his first year in South Yorkshire, and then last season, with him likely to have played all year due to the lack of senior names in Wednesday's squad, he played even fewer games.
After just 13 appearances last season, this deal has been given to help prove his fitness at this level. Unfortunately, after starting the first three games of the campaign, he was forced off in the second half against Preston North End and hasn't featured in a squad since.

Despite playing a key role in helping Charlton reach the Championship back in 2024/25, keeping 15 clean sheets in 31 league and play-off games, Will Mannion has found league minutes hard to come by in the second tier.
Thomas Kaminski's arrival last summer relegated him to back-up, but he was reintroduced for nine games at the tail end of the season, and after playing the first two games in all competitions this year, Mannion hasn't even seen the bench due to injury.
The three-year deal he signed with Charlton in 2024 comes to an end this summer, and he may well be let go in favour of more game time elsewhere.

The final two players on this list have club options to extend at the end of the season, so while their deals do run out this summer, Charlton will have first refusal on whether they stay around.
Reece Burke is another Nathan Jones favourite. Like Bell, the 30-year-old was brought to Luton Town by the current Addicks boss, and re-joined his former manager ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Unfortunately, Burke's injury issues have continued to limit his time on the field. He never made more than 27 league appearances during the four years he spent at Luton, and could only manage 17 in his debut campaign at the Valley.
He's yet to feature at all this season, either, and if he can't showcase anything close to full fitness, Charlton may opt not to exercise the extra year on his deal.

Matty Godden's initial contract, which he signed at Charlton back in 2024, was a two-year deal with the option of a further year. This past summer, he signed a new one-year extension to that.
The 35-year-old was a big part of the Addicks promotion campaign in his first season for the club, scoring 19 in 44 league and play-off games. Unfortunately, he had to undergo knee surgery last summer, which kept him out until 2026. A lack of pre-season made it difficult for him to get up to speed, and he only played 299 minutes all year.
The hope was that, with a full pre-season behind him, Godden could have more of an impact this season. However, the veteran frontman hasn't played since the opening day, which has been a big blow for both himself and the club.
It's no secret how much of a fan favourite the 35-year-old is, scoring 25 goals in his 62 appearances for the club, but he'll need to prove his fitness, like Burke, to warrant sticking around past the end of the season.
