The midfielder was a core part of the Latics side last season as he made 44 appearances and contributed three goals as his side gained promotion back to the Championship.

This season he has continued to be a regular member of the first team having played every game so far.

Power is out of contract this summer and will be 30-years-old in July so with that in mind, we asked FLW’s Wigan Athletic fan pundit Adam Pendlebury if he would offer the midfielder a new contract: “I think in my view there’s got to be an offer of an extension and he’s adapted pretty well I think to the Championship.

“Not played a lot of Championship football previously but he’s a lot more experienced now. His dead ball delivery is really good generally and I think he’s a bit of a cult hero as well.

“So yeah, my view is offer Max a new contract, maybe he won’t play as much but still having him in the squad is a good thing.”

1. Which national team did Emmerson Boyce play for?

Jamaica Barbados Trinidad & Tobago United States

The Verdict:

Although Power only had one season of Championship football under his belt up to this point, the fact he’s been able to play every game so far this season shows he is doing well at adapting to the step up.

Although he may make less appearances if he was to extend his stay with Wigan, he is an experienced head in the dressing room and a name that is well respected at the club meaning he has plenty to add off the pitch as well.

The player is well loved by fans and has shown he has enough quality in him to deserve the contract extension so you can imagine it would be a good move for all parties.
