Kenny Jackett, the quietly authoritative manager who revived Wolves from their lowest ebb, has died aged 64.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, he took charge in 2013 with the club reeling from successive relegations to League One.
He reshaped the squad, moved on senior players and built a record-breaking side that took 103 points and the League One title.
Highlights included a 6-4 win over Rotherham and 10K to MK on 29 March 2014, when Liam McAlinden’s late header earned a 1-0 victory.
Back in the Championship, Wolves missed the play-offs on goal difference the following season, with Nouha Dicko, Benik Afobe and Bakary Sako rampant in attack.
He departed in 2016, dismissed eight days after Fosun bought the club, and handled his exit with characteristic dignity.
Jackett made 428 appearances for Watford, won 31 caps for Wales, and managed Millwall, Swansea, Rotherham, Portsmouth and Leyton Orient.
His final job was as Gillingham’s director of football, a post he left in November 2024 for medical reasons.
His groundwork from 2013 underpinned the resurgence that followed, including later Europa League memories.
Deepest sympathy to his wife Samantha, sons David and Ryan, and all who loved him.
