All good things come in threes: The German national team has secured its first victory under Jürgen Klopp. Following a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands and a 0-1 loss to Greece, the DFB team earned a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Serbia on Thursday evening in Munich.

From FC Bayern’s perspective, there were several reasons to celebrate. With Jonas Urbig, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Tom Bischof, and Serge Gnabry, four Munich players were in the starting lineup. While Urbig made his debut in goal for the DFB, Bischof emerged as one of the big winners of the evening with his first international goal.

Germany was dominant and played with flair right from the start. Bischof gave Germany a well-deserved lead in the 39th minute, and Florian Wirtz extended the lead to 2-0 after halftime. The Munich midfield duo of Bischof and Pavlovic, in particular, put in impressive performances.

Bischof Shines in His DFB Debut

Tom Bischof: His debut could hardly have gone much better. The Bayern youngster was fully in the game from the start, moving confidently in ball circulation and going hard into tackles. After Wirtz hit the post, he reacted quickly and scored the 1–0 goal in the 39th minute. That first goal gave him an extra boost of confidence. Bischof was one of the key figures in Germany’s success and made a strong case for future opportunities.

Aleksandar Pavlovic: Without Joshua Kimmich and Felix Nmecha, the 22-year-old was called upon to lead the midfield. Pavlovic took several shots himself and, with his strong ball control, played a key role in setting up the 1-0 goal. A few minor errors crept into his passing at times. All in all, however, the Bayern pro delivered a convincing box-to-box performance.

A quiet evening for Urbig – Gnabry had his ups and downs

Jonas Urbig: A largely unspectacular debut in the German goal. Serbia rarely posed serious problems for the 23-year-old; Urbig had to make only two saves and handled his duties with confidence. In the second half, he made an unnecessary mistake in build-up play, but it had no consequences. The Bayern keeper didn’t get many opportunities to shine.

Serge Gnabry: The Bayern pro led the DFB team onto the field as captain and had a good early chance from a tight angle. After a pass from Wirtz, Gnabry created danger and later returned the favor with a pinpoint cross to the Liverpool star. However, he squanders a big chance in a one-on-one with Djordje Petrovic due to a weak first touch. His workday ends at halftime, and Said El Mala takes over. Grade: 3

The biggest Bayern standout of the evening was Bischof. In his first appearance for the senior national team, the 21-year-old not only delivered a strong performance but also rewarded himself immediately with his first goal. With this performance, he is likely to have made a lasting impression on Klopp.
