Bayern Munich midfielder Tom Bischof impressed in his second appearance and first start for Germany, scoring his country's opener in their 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday.

In the joy and heat of the moment, the 21-year-old celebrated with a knee slide that left him feeling it after the game.

“You saw it, I let everything out and was incredibly happy. But my knees are already hurting from the slide,” Bischof  said of his goal in a post-match interview.

Bischof enjoyed playing in an electric atmosphere at his usual home ground, the Allianz Arena in Munich.

“It was indescribable. The stadium was rocking. We could feel the support. We were there from the start, created a lot of chances and played a very, very good game,” he said.

The midfielder also praised the impact Jürgen Klopp has had since taking charge following Germany's disappointing World Cup campaign.

“Jürgen is a coach who gets you on board and pulls you along. You can also see that in the people who come to the stadium and want to see it. I hope it continues like this,” he said.
