Jeremy Doku got himself on the scoresheet on Sunday as he scored the third goal as Manchester City beat Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Doku’s goal came after he pressed Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo into an error on the edge of his own penalty area. Jeremy Doku’s well-taken goal capped off another very good performance from him and his team. Doku looks to be in strong form for the run-in, and speaking after his team picked up a crucial three points against Chelsea, Doku’s attention has quickly shifted to Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Arsenal.
Playing on the left wing against Chelsea, Jeremy Doku was a constant threat to Liam Rosenior’s side throughout Manchester City’s win on Sunday. His dribbling always kept Chelsea on the back foot, and while City weren’t at their best in the first half, Doku was arguably Manchester City’s most dangerous attacking player in the opening 45 minutes. The Belgian winger constantly tried to get at the Chelsea defence in the first half at Stamford Bridge. Doku’s performance in the first half was a continuation of his strong recent form.
In the second half against Chelsea, as Manchester City upped the ante, Doku continued to play well. He combined superbly well with Rayan Cherki on a short corner routine which set up Manchester City’s second goal in the 57th minute at Stamford Bridge. Marc Guehi took his goal superbly well after a sublime Rayan Cherki assist, Doku’s ability to draw Chelsea defenders on the left created an opening for Rayan Cherki to exploit.
Jeremy Doku would get his reward for a strong performance at Stamford Bridge when he scored Manchester City’s third goal of the afternoon. He dispossessed Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo on the edge of his area and drove into the Chelsea area. Doku beat Robert Sanchez with a cool and calm low finish to seal Manchester City’s vital win. Doku’s goal capped an impressive overall performance from the Belgian international, and he is looming as one of several important players that Manchester City have for the run-in.
Speaking with Sky Sports after his impressive performance, and Manchester City’s win over Chelsea, Jeremy Doku’s attention quickly shifted to Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Arsenal. Doku explained that he believes that the title race is on, and Manchester City have an opportunity to land a blow on Arsenal at the Etihad. He explained: “I believe the race is on. We have a big game now, we’re going to recover well and look forward to it. I watched the Arsenal game and when I saw them lose, I saw that the Premier League is really unpredictable.”
“We were also focused on our own game. Winning here is not a given, so that we did it today is exceptional. If we win [next weekend], it is a big punch towards them. If we lose, it’s in their hands and we have to wait for them to lose. But if we win, it’s in our hands and I prefer to have it in my hands.”
Jeremy Doku continued his impressive form with another good display against Chelsea. Doku looms as a key player against Arsenal and across the run-in for Manchester City, and the Belgian winger also knows what is on offer when City take on Arsenal this Sunday. The Belgian winger will be hoping that his strong form continues, and his team can land the punch they need on Mikel Arteta’s side at the Etihad.
