With his contract running down, Bernardo Silva made history for Manchester City and the Premier League. The Portugal international started as City beat Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
According to Glorioso 1904, the 31-year-old Benfica graduate moved to 297 Premier League appearances with that start, overtaking Luís Boa Morte as the Portuguese player with the most games.
In the 32nd round, the meeting was goalless at half time, before Pep Guardiola’s side settled it early in the second half through Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guéhi and Jérémy Doku.
The club marked the milestone on X, noting his 297 games in the competition.
He now leads a list that includes Cristiano Ronaldo (236), Bruno Fernandes (223), Diogo Jota (190), José Fonte (178), Rúben Neves (177), Pedro Neto (176), João Moutinho (175) and Rúben Dias (169).
There are six rounds left in the season, so Silva could extend his record further.
