A new chapter for Deschamps? France boss opens door to Saudi move
Didier Deschamps revealed that he received offers from Saudi Arabia in recent months.
In interview with Telefoot relayed by L'Equipe, the French national team coach admitted to having direct talks with Saudi club.
"Yes I had discussions with Saudi club" Deschamps admitted. "They know my situation. Once I make my final decision, I won’t go back on it. Things are clear after the deadlines, I’ll be free coach and I’m not ruling anything out for my future"
Deschamps is expected to step down from his position with the French national team after the 2026 World having been in charge since 2012.
French reports also linked him with potential moves to Juventus or even the Brazil national team but the 55 year old dismissed both rumours.
"I’m not going back to Juventus and there’s no contact with Brazil either" he said firmly brushing aside speculation about his next step.
While confirming Saudi interest , Deschamps took time to praise the Saudi Pro League.
It is noteworthy that he called up N’Golo Kant a player for Al Ittihad Saudi Club, to the French national team’s latest squad , a decision that many saw as acknowledgment of the improved level of the Saudi Professional League.
